Description
CUP WINNER of the Gourmet Worlds 96.6 points
Dark ruby garnet with opaque core. Purple rim with violet hues. On the nose of blackberry, cherry and ripe dark berry aromas. Spicy and elegant, very artful and complex. Fresh on the palate, with rich, juicy tannins and seemingly endless. Fruit of ripe cherries and blackberries. Earthy spice pepper of cinnamon and thyme. A voluminous body rich in extracts, well defined and elegant.
Perfectly integrated oak. A long finish accompanied by delicate juicy tannins and a persistent fruity finish.
Austria once again impressed with its consistently high level of quality for many years. The 2012 Blaufränkisch Ried Dürrau DAC Reserve Bio from the red winery IBY caused particular enthusiasm. With 96.6 points, the red from Central Burgenland, which the jury found to have amazing freshness and high aging potential, wins for Austria. With the juiciness of ripe cherries, elegant minerality and nougat nuances in the long finish, it is a prime example of the powerful, complex wines from IBY and its top vineyard Dürrau.*
