Description

Quintus Blaufränkisch – The Essence of a Unique Terroir

A remarkable, top-tier Blaufränkisch from the “Gfangeräcker” vineyard – a site of true character, producing powerful yet elegant wines of rare finesse.

Quintus unites the variety’s classic strengths – cool spice, dense fruit, and mineral depth – with the unmistakable signature of its soil. Grown on calcareous loam, carefully hand-harvested, and matured with precision in small oak barrels. This is sustainable viticulture paired with artisanal skill – a Blaufränkisch in its purest form.

A wine of elegance, inner tension, and authentic expression of place.

Tasting Notes

Color:
Deep ruby garnet with almost black core and violet reflections. Clear, dense, and radiant – a visual promise of concentration and depth.

Nose:
Complex, intense, yet refined. Dark forest berries, ripe black cherries, and blackberries lead the bouquet. Accents of thyme, subtle roast aromas, fine nougat, black pepper, and delicate oak spice follow. Layered and precise – a bouquet full of depth and freshness.

Palate:
Dry, powerful, and tightly structured. Juicy blackberry and black cherry dominate the palate, supported by hints of cinnamon and dark minerality. Silky, ripe tannins are perfectly integrated, with balanced acidity adding liveliness. Oak is present but never overpowering. The long finish carries notes of dark fruit, herbal spice, and elegant toast – a finish of class.

Food Pairing
A perfect match for grilled meats, game, lamb, or beef – also excellent with earthy mushroom dishes, steak, or aged cheeses. Its structure and depth make it a versatile companion to sophisticated cuisine.

Serving Temperature:
Slightly chilled at 16–17 °C as an elegant pairing on warmer days, or at 18–19 °C for contemplative moments on cooler evenings.

Aging Potential:
10–20 years – developing increasing complexity, depth, and finesse.

A Blaufränkisch of origin, style, and outstanding cellaring potential – a true flagship of Mittelburgenland and a testament to the IBY family’s commitment to quality and tradition.
