Tasting Notes
Color:
Deep ruby red with garnet reflections and an almost black core – a first hint of this wine’s depth and concentration. Clear and brilliant in the glass, with dense legs that suggest structure.
Nose:
Layered and intense – aromas of ripe blackberries, sour cherries, and dark morello cherries are complemented by subtle juniper spice, earthy undertones, and delicate herbal notes. Cinnamon, thyme, and a hint of dark chocolate round out the complex bouquet. The oak remains subtle, enhancing the composition with elegance.
Palate:
Refined, juicy, and surprisingly youthful – despite its age. The wine opens with juicy cherry fruit, dark berries, and multi-layered spice. The tannins are ripe, silky, and long-lasting, giving the wine structure and depth. Its freshness on the palate adds lightness and elegance; the finish is long, carried by fruity density and fine spice – a wine with stamina and soul.
Food Pairing
Confessio is the perfect companion to fine cuisine – veal, beef, game, or braised meat dishes pair beautifully. Also excellent with aged cheeses or enjoyed on its own with a fine cigar by the fireplace – a sophisticated indulgence.
Serving Temperature: 17–19 °C – for special occasions and great moments.
Aging Potential: 10–20 years – gaining depth, harmony, and elegance over time.
A Blaufränkisch of the highest caliber – structured, elegant, and expressive. A true declaration of terroir, grape variety, and time.
